In this episode I talk about collocations and how important they are. I start by reading a definition from the Oxford Collocations Dictionary, then I discuss the importance of collocations and finally I give an example of how you can learn them.

    Two other excellent dictionaries: Macmillan Collocations Dictionary and the latest … the Longman Collocations Dictionary and Thesaurus
    There’s also the BBI Combinatory Dictionary of English (Word Combinations) (There’s now a version in Italian)

    N.B. Remember ‘Michelle’ (Beatles) … ‘Michelle, ma belle’ these are words that go together well … (you can’t say *’Michelle, ma beau’ in French:)))

    For bilingual learners (French-English) there’s also a dictionary called “Dictionnaire Combinatoire du Français”
